This isn't worth it. Look at the ACER refurb deal. Still $430
with an x2 dual-core and full system (1gb ram 250gb hd media center pro x600)

too bad this deal wasn't for dual core though :(

For non-smp tasks, the 4000+ will kill the low-end x2 processors. The 4000+ is a basically a locked FX-53/Opteron 150 (1 MB cache, 2.4 GHz). I've seen people who claim to have them running at decent speeds (co-worker has one at 2.7).

If you are just gaming, the 4000+ is a great chip. With price drops though, this deal may not be great if you don't need an OS. Ewiz had teh procfor $120 recently (too lazy to check).

yep its a fast cpu. i am running this combo at 2.7 stable. It posted at 2.8 but limited by oem hsf and MB.

Not exactly. The 3800+ X2's seem to be clocking easily to 2.4 and many above that. Not to mention the price difference is so little, you'd be foolish to get a single core now.

Those who try to label the X2 as "bad for gaming" have obviously never used one.

I got my X2 3800+ up to 2.7ghz easily. Running 2.73ghz actually and stable. I probably got lucky
