Last month I bought the PHILIPS 50PF9631D 50" Plasma with Pixel Plus 3 HD and Ambilight 2 channel from best buy for $1800. Outpost had it priced cheaper but with shipping it wasnt worth it. The model has since been discontinued and unavailable from most retailers. The new one that philips rolled out with has a 7-in-1 memory card reader, max resolution of 1080i, better computer format resoultions (1024x768) - the older one had 10 extra pixels so it didn't format right from a PC.

This new model is priced on the web from

Amazon = $2,494.01 to
B&H Photo-Video-Pro Audio = $3,599.99

Fry's list the older model at $1,712.00, and the new one for $1,499.00

PHILIPS 50PF9731D/37
50" HD Plasma TV

$1,499.00

-The ambilight is the reason to get this TV. it's amazing with my 2-channel one, so the 3-channel has to be that much better.

1st post for hot deals, how did i do? =)

The older model 50PF9631D(which is now discontinued) is $1712.00

The 50PF9731D(newer one) is $1499.00 (which is from $2500 - $3600 at other sites)

I'm guessing they have the wrong price

Yep, shipping and tax kill the deal in GA, adds over $200 to the price. Thanks for the heads-up OP.

Seems like a very good deal to me, even with $160 shipping - nice looking set. Tempting, but I must wait to see the new Pannys and Pios coming out this summer.
