Help me fix this. I have Outlook configured to check mail every 5 minutes. The problem is that even after I exit Outlook, it still checks the mail. I'm running Win98 right now. If I Ctrl-Alt-Del to look at the running programs, Outlook is still running even after it's exited. This is really pissing me off. Why is it doing this and how can I get it to stop?

Um...under Options, Mail Setup, Send/Receive...you have it checked to do a send/receive every 5 minutes when Outlook is offline? That's what's doing it.

Thanks, but nope. Nothing is checked for offline. If it makes a difference though, I'm on a lan not modem. And even then, it should still respect when I exit the program shouldn't it?

Where did you pick having it check for email every 5 minutes...I get so confused with all the menu's in OXP that I can't find them sometimes. There are settings which make it check for mail even when you exit, I have them turned off for mine, I just don't remember where and how I did it.

LOL! Yeah, I really hate the menus in Outlook. If OE worked with my Jornada I'd use that instead.

The menu is Tools->Options->Mail Setup tab->Send/Receive settings.

I've looked for some setting that controls mail check on exit but can't find it.

<< I don't know. All I can tell you is that my options under that tab look like THIS >>

Thanks. Mine looks the same. Checking the box or not doesn't seem to change the problem.
