Question Outlook won't DL gmail anymore

This happened 3 days ago. I was getting my gmail in outlook like usual and then it just quit. I can access it fine in a browser but I am used to just using outlook. I tried deleting the account in outlook and re-adding it but still no luck. I assume it is adding it correctly but it is all automated now, not like in the old days where you had to put the email servers in. Any suggestions?

Are you setting it up as IMAP or POP? In Outlook on the bottom it typically shows the status of send and receive. You can click it to bring up a window that shows more detail. What does that show? Can you send an email from Outlook?

I can send and receive fine with my MS email just not my gmail. The new outlook has all the settings hidden. I can even find a place to put in the mail servers.

What version of Outlook? I'm using the 365 version and server settings are under Account Settings.

It's the updated outlook version of the old mail app I think. I have office 2013 which I still use for word but outlook 2013 simply doesn't open anymore. I tried rolling back to 2013 and MS wouldn't let me do it. So, I think my office is a hybrid of 2013 and something newer. I do have a subscription for the lowest level of 365 just for the extra storage. I reset my router yesterday and it did DL gmail but today it is back to not DL. Don't think the router has anything to do with it since all my other devices work fine.
