Outlook still shows new mail after a rule marks an email as read

So I've got an account that gets spammed with reports from various servers/processes and I've got outlook setup with some rules to throw the emails in various folders and mark them as read. The problem is that Outlook continues to show 'new' mail, when I don't want it to. The emails are there in case I need to look at them, so I would rather not be bothered every time I get a new one and it prevents me from seeing when I actually get a new email that I need to read.

Any ideas? This an IMAP account NOT through Exchange.
