Outlook sending internal email through external server

I am having a strange issue with a customer's system. They have exchange running for internal email and calendar sharing; and separate email service through time-warner for external email. The issue is that for two users outlook has started trying to send internal email through the external mail servers, if you click the accounts button next to send and select the exchange account it sends to the exchange server works properly.

I have tried to search out an answer to this issue with no success and I am hoping some else may have run into this situation.

What are there external SMTP servers configured in Outlook? Everything should be sent through Exchange.

Do they have multiple accounts configured in Outlook?

sorry I thought I explained that, yes they have two email accounts one internal on the exchange server and one regular old pop3 account hosted by time-warner. With these two people outlook tries to send email meant for the exchange server through the time-warner servers, if they click on the accounts button and select the internal exchange account it works properly. with the exception of these two people everyone else in the company can send internal email with having to tell outlook to use the internal account.
