Outlook rules when connected to Exchange

If you are using Exchange 2003 SP2 with a mix of Outlook 2002 and 2003 clients, and you create a rule in one of those Outlook clients, will the rule apply even if that user is not logged in and Outlook is not up? I know it does not apply the rule if you are using a local .pst file, but I was hoping the rule would somehow get applied at the Exchange level if you are in that environment.

the rules i have set up work when i am not in outlook, if i log into webmail the rules still distrubute mail to the correct places. so yes they do work when outlook is not open

it depends on the rule. some of them are only supported in the client, but it will warn you when you create such a rule.
