I think I'm already screwed but maybe sombody will have a fix. I reformated my C: drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro. I forgot to make a backup of Outlook that is located on the D: drive. Is there any way to recover the emails or are they gone. I don't know where they would be stored or even if they could be recovered or not. I have Outlook 2003 on a seperate drive from the operating system and haven't did anything except to the C: drive. Any help is appreciated.

Do you mean Outlook is on the D: drive, or the mail files are on the D: drive? If you didn't move the .PST file somewhere else, then it was located in the C:\Documents and Settings folder tree, and I think you're pretty much out of luck.

Right, Outlook is on the D: I never paid any attention to where the actual data was stored. Not a big loss but if it was recoverable I'd give it a shot before I format the D: drive. As I said, I think it's too late...

By default Outlook should store your *.pst files into your profile folder located on the C: drive. Unless you use recovery software you might be in a bad spot.

You can try searching all *.pst files on your D: drive to see if anything comes up.

default outlook as said stores in the c:\ user directories.

your data is gone unless you once manually told it to store elsewhere..

you should always export to .pst everyonce in a while as backup

The last backup I have is from June. It was one of those thought that come to you halfway into a format. Oh Well, was worth a shot.
