Outlook PST to MSG (freeware) ?

I'm looking for a program that will extract/export MSGs files from an Outlook PST.

I found two programs but both cost money.

Anyone know of any freeware alternatives?

I know this can be done manually, but the PST in question has thousands of emails, and i've tried a couple times already and the numbers will never match up after manually moving, for example if the folder says there are 5,000 emails in it, after the transfer, only 4,570 are in the folder (I understand I can just transfer the whole PST, but he had an Outlook 2002 PST that became too large, so I did some conversion method, but i think the resulting PST has problems, I'd rather move everything out to MSGs and manually import into a new PST in Outlook after the hard drive switch).

run scanpst on the file first. 99.99% of everyone's pst files has errors. think of PST like FAT32 - not NTFS journalled. it's corrupt. you'd be suprised if you ran scanpst on every pc with outlook i'd bet money they all come back with some sort of error the first time. i'd put $50 on that
