when someone sends me a link via e-mail and i click it, the browser window opens, but so does a box asking me to locate the link on my computer. fairly annoying, and from what i understand it's caused by not having IE as my default browser.

is there an easy workaround for this?

In IE, make sure that it still doesn't want to be the DEFAULT browser.

Go to IE \ Tools \ Internet Options \ Programs
and make sure that ' Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser'
is not ticked (it likes to remain ticked even if you use another browser as the Default).

thanks...

so strange, though. i had this exact same setup. reformatted, installed the exact same programs, and all of the sudden it's a problem. very odd. i like how it says to upgrade to windows xp when im already using xp ;)

thanks for the digging :)
