Hey guys,

I thought I knew how to do this, but I'm missing a step. Right now, I'm on my Win 7 PC with outlook 2007. It's POP3, so all messages are saved on my computer.

I have my win8 computer (boo, I know) w/ Outlook 2010 loaded up with my outlook ready to go in IMAP form.

If I turn off my POP3 server client, all my mail will go to my IMAP like it's supposed to. But, as we know, if I turn on my POP3 client to retrieve mail/search for past emails, it sucks everything back to that.

How can I download all of my mail, throw it on my external HDD and have it all save back on my server/IMAP?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not that familiar with Outlook but I use Thunderbird and just archive the messages (IMAP).

I am not sure if this is what you are asking, but if your Outlook email is saved on your computer, it will be in a .ost file. Just throw that file on your backup drive, and all your emails will be saved.

On the machines I have set up with Outlook, the file is in My Documents\Outlook, named after the email address.

To find where you .ost file is:
1. Open Outlook
2. Click on File, select Info if it isn't already highlighted
3. Click on the Account Settings button and select Account Settings
4. Click on the Data Files tab

You should see the location of the file in the window below.
