I have did a search but can't find much. my friend is running win98 now, and she is getting a new computer, which has win2k installed already. how can she transfer all the data (emails, schedule, contact, etc...) from the outlook in win98 to the outlook in win2k? i know she can do export and import, but i heard there is a way to just copy files.

i have checked and the location seems to be something like windows/application data/........ i have tried copying all the files from win98 to win2k, but when i open up the outlook in win2k, still nothing.

any help? thanks.

There is a way to edit the regesty so both OS's use the same place for emails. Not sure how though. It was posted in a forum here somewhere..

I don't think you need edit anything, as there is already the option to move the folder into one you specify.

Hi rominl -- It depends really. I assume she working from a home computer and is not connected to an Exchange Server. If you perform a search for a *.pst (personal storage file), this will contain all the data for calendar, contacts, e-mail, notes, journal, and tasks. Copy the .pst file to the new computer. Run Outlook from the new computer and open the .pst from Outlook.

Here are some helpful links if you need the details:
