All of a sudden I keep getting errors when trying to get my e-mail... Having looked on MS website they say either port 25 or 110 is closed!!! How do I open these? I'm running WinXP Pro! I can send mail but not receive so I guess it's port 110

This is the error.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Mail', Server: 'mail.isp.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Help, b4 I reinstall everything..lol :)

1) Are you running any firewall/anti-virus software that scans incoming e-mail?

2) Do you have a router or hardware firewall that may be blocking the port?

3) When you you telnet mail.isp.net 110, do you get a response?

Thanks for the reply.

1) I am only running WinXP's firewall and yes I am also running Nortons AV which scans all incoming e-mail.

2) I'm don't have a Hardware firewall or router.

3) I get no response at all. Connection to port 110 failed..

:frown:

[Edit]

Thanx for that. it would appear that it was Norton. I updated recently and it disabled e-mail auto protect and I was unable to enable it again. I uninstalled it and was able to get my email. Just reinstalling it now. Thanks for the pointer...appreciated. ;)
