So, as of a few days ago, OE doesn't retrieve mail from my pop3 account. I can retrieve hotmail and I can send pop3 mail, I just don't get anything new in my inbox.

What makes this extra weird is that when I click "send & receive", it thinks everything is kosher...

OE got stupid like that for me awhile back - though it was associated with changing web-servers. It also happened to one of my email users.

The only thing that I could get to work was to delete the account in OE, then set it up again. This also worked for the other email user. Never figured out what was going on - but it worked. It's easy enough to try...

Try turning off all email scanning in avg (including the advanced settings screen). If that doesn't do it, then try recreating the account in OE.

There is also 'email protection' in zonealarm and maybe some other firewalls.

Can you send messages? What is the domain for this email address? Have another email address which you can send messages to the problematic address? Send several and check the web to make sure they are there and then try OE. Maybe try setting up another identity in OE (not sure if this is true but it may reset all the settings for the account). Definately could be a problem with your environment (ie. OE, antivirus, active desktop, background services, virus, etc.) Are you virus free? Disabled firewall? If you are running XP, try setting up an XP PPPOE connection directly to the net without a firewall or antivirus enabled. Ask if you need a more detailed explanation. Of course check your POP/SMTP server names, maybe they changed or updated. Try another POP3 program, like a free one from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads10.html.

Why bump your thread when you dont answer questions, how will anyone be able to help you? Makes no sense...

Your questions were addressed in my original post. Thanks for the previous advice, but it didn't work...

My questions were not answered. Just shows you shouldn't be posting threads here wasting peoples valuable time...I trouble shoot using the process of elimination and without knowing the outcome of my questions there are too many possibilities.

You oughta try creating this email account from a PC running a working copy of OE6.

forgive me for not answering questions that were written so as to be rhetorical guides for troubleshooting...
