Does anybody else have this problem?

Outlook Express's mail notification shows up in the system tray. When you look at your new mail, it dissapears. But then (if you set your mail to check for new mail every one minute, as I do) you get the new mail sound and the new mail icon in the system tray AGAIN. The only way to make it leave is to close OE entirely and restart the program.

How in the hell can this bug have lived through five incarnations of OE and Windows? How did Microsoft NOT take care of this? I mean, it works fine on Outlook. But Outlook Express just screws up every time.
 
My OE pops the icon, the sound and the "1 new message(s)" alert everytime I check mail, independent if there's mail or not!

I hate Outlook Express' handling of IMAP deleting... It pops up "Purging deleted files" and you can't click it off or anything to Outlook says it's done.. what a bunch of lazy programmers to allow that popup box to keep me from closing Outlook for 20 seconds... screw that

Just open up any mail already in your inbox by double-clicking on it (instead of just using the preview pane) and the icon should go away.

 
Sounds like your getting the mail before OE is finish checking the server. try marking the mail unread then read.
 
I can't believe anyone checks for new mail every minute.

If you check new mail at longer intervals, does it still happen? If not, it sounds like what Smolek said.
 
My OE has been acting strangely lately.

i will do a send/recieve to check email, i will get indicator that i have new email but when i check inbox NOTHING.

I have to reopen OE to get access to the new emails.

Is this a recent bug. It never did that before like 1 week ago.
