Outlook Express makes a file called "~" on my desktop every time it shuts down!

This is really annoying...I have this fresh install of WinXP Pro, and I'm setting everything up, but Outlook Express makes a file called "~" on my desktop every time it shuts down, or switches identities. It's a binary file, about 170k. I'm thinking it may have something to do witht he fact that I created identities, and then just clobbered the new inbox/trash/etc files with old ones (this was before I realized Outlook had an "import folders from file" thingee.

Any ideas?

I think I figured out that it's my contacts file, but what the hell is it doing on my desktop? And I was just messing around with my laptop, making some new identities for a new e-mail address, and now it's there too!

Anyone have any clue?

This is weird...I can't figure out why it does this. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone have any clue?

I have the same thing happening on my computer, opened it in notepad, appears to be from my address book also, a group i created. I dunno how to stop it from recreating, but it is annoying
