Outlook Express Freezes when URL clicked

Situation: Running Oultook Express 5.0 under Windows 2K. When I try to click on an embedded URL in a message, Outlook Express freezes ( the cursor arrow turns into a hand). I have to go to Windows Task Manager to stop Outlook Express from running. Any ideas on why and how to fix. IE 5.5 works fine.
