Outlook Express Disappeared

Recently I had a slew of hardware problems after installing a hard drive. I got those items fixed and the computer running OK. I go to get on the internet and apparently my NIC no longer worked and installed.

As part of fixing my computer I moved boards around and then had to reactivate windows.

After restarting my computer I found that my link to the internet and mail no longer worked. I had been running IE7 and Outlook Express.

I opened a windows explorer page and typed in google, which opened that page so I knew my internet connection worked. I downloaded IE7 again and installed it. The lastest Outlook Express is ver 6. I downloaded it but it will not load due to running IE7.

Any suggestions?

Apparently I lost it all. I can find my contacts but not the program. I downloaded OE 6 but it will not load because I have IE 7.

My shortcut will not work and in my program files for OE, the exe file will not load. Shortcut says it is looking for an ink file. I did a *.ink search and nothing showed up.

Last time I check, Outlook Express can be re-installed from the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel, under "Add/Remove Windows Components". Existing Outlook folders and address books should be unaffected.

WooHoo,

I have been messing with computers since the Apple IIe, built multiple computers and am pretty good with these things, but never in all these years have ever done the Add Programs thing. Always been deleting stuff.

Well, this worked like a charm and all the shortcuts immediately worked.

Thanks many times over.

Even your advice was never found even googling the problem.
