Outlook Express delays opening?

Hey. This problem started randomly a couple days ago, and it won't go away.

On Saturday when I opened Outlook Express 6, I'd get the blue screen with Outlook Express 6 on it, but instead of going to the regular screen about 2 seconds later, it just sat there, doing nothing, for about 30 seconds. Once I got to the main screen, it was fully operational. This happens every time now. It will just have the hourglass for 30 seconds, then boot up like normal. I tried uninstalling it (though couldn't find it), so I uninstalled IE6 and reinstalled, but I have the same exact problem.

Thanks for any help. This is starting to piss me off, as I open and close OE6 at least 5 times per hour while I'm surfing 🙂.

You might have too many messages in your inbox or some corrupted ones. You can try compacting your message folders under File->Folders. That might help since your folder databases are really the only things carriered over when you uninstall and reinstall IE6/OE6.

ah... yeah... i kept it from opening because even after i removed hide it wouldn't let me uninstall

thanks for pointing that out...

do you know what could have happened since I can't uninstall it?

You won't allow you to uninstall Messenger? Well, its actually a pretty common problem, after uninstalling Messenger (or trying perhaps) Outlook Express is known to start having very slow startups.

Someone might have a link to a solution (I've seen it before) or you could search the forum as its been discussed before.

so with that, I can disable it from ever starting up in gpedit.msc, then clear that reg to have it not slow down? thanks

p.s. I don't get that message they describe...
