I wonder if that title is too long for these forums..

Anyway, I was playing with my mard drives, upgraded, moved Win2K to a different partition, deleted Windows 98. Everything's working fine, but outlook express wont load. I'ce tried re-installing IE, doesn't work. Saw a microsoft aricle meant for Windows 98, said to delete outlook express and reinstall IE 5. Didn't work.. I'm going to keep trying sutff but I thought I'd post something here (I'm not optimistic).

Here's the error again:
Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded.

You need to let Win2K know where your new Program Files folder is not that you've moved it to another partition. Do this: Right-click on My Computer, then left-click on Properties. Now, click on the Advanced Tab. Now, click on the "Environment Variables" button. In the top box, click New. Then, for the variable, name it "ProgramFiles" (no quotes and no space between Program and Files...ProgramFiles). For the value, type in the path to your Program Files folder.

For instance, if this is your new configuration, type it in thusly:

Variable Name: ProgramFiles
Variable Value: D:\Program Files

(this is if you moved your Program Files folder to D:\ and make sure you put a space in the Variable Value so it reflects the correct folder name...Program Files)

tlarson1, %ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe is what the Outlook Express shortcut goes to anyway.

you said you moved win2k to a different partition, right? That means a different drive letter. You'll have to explain to me how you managed to do that without the drive letter changing.

Edit the mounted_devices key in the registry. I'd telll you exectly where it is, but I'm on a Win98 computer right now (so I can read email).

If your Win2K drive letter changes, it wont work anyway. You get to login after some reg editing, but all your paths are messed up. I had C: and D: on a fujitsu drive and H: for Win2K on a small Maxtor. Got a large Maxtor, moved over H: and C:, and merged D: into C:.

Damn! Why didn't I see that? I searched for msoe.dll in both the Outlook Express and Windows 2000 sections I thought. Thank you! I bet that will help me out.
