Outlook Express bug?? Please help!!

Before migrating to Windows XP, I saved all my email messages in another HD partition so I could recover it later.

Now that everything is back to normal, I'm having this problem: if I quit Outlook without logging off and then run it again, all my mesages are gone! But the files were not deleted! What's going on?
