Outlook Express and MSOE.DLL

Hello everyone,

my computer was overheating and as a result, whacked out an Outlook dll file, MSOE.DLL version 6.0.2900.5512 . I tried to install an older version of this file, but it didn't work. I also tried reinstalling XP SP3, but that didn't work, either!

I have quite a bit of valuable information in my contact list, in OE and desperately need to get it working again.

If anyone can help, I'd certaily appreciate it.

thanks,

John

I dont know about nowadays but Outlook Express used to be a component of Internet Explorer. Provided that hasn't changed since then you can try to reinstall\repair\upgrade your installation of IE and that might fix it.

That version of MSOE.dll is the original one thats on the install cd. pop in the xp install cd into your computer and go to a command prompt and type in

expand cd drive letter\i386\msoe.dl_ where you want to put the file\msoe.dll

so for example

expand d:\i386\msoe.dll c:\program files\outlook express\msoe.dll (im assuming thats where it needs to go... dont have xp handy at the moment)

Dahak,

thanks, I appreciate your help. However, whenever I try to do this, I get the message: Destination is not a directory "Outlook" or "Express" or "MSOE.DLL" or whatever the last thing is in the desitination line. What am I doing wrong?

You are correct, the file is located in c:\program files\Outlook Express.

thanks,

John

Thank you all for your responses and helpful information. I managed to repair it, everything is working now as it should!

Again, a big THANK YOU!

John
