Ok, I have seen this on numerous computers. On Windows XP, after upgrading to Internet Explorer 7 suddenly in Outlook Express 6 most of the emails have a paper clip showing attatachments in the preview pane under the column for attachments. Not all show the clip, but most do. Regardless of whether there is an attachment or not.
Anyone else notice this? Or have a way to get it to only show real attacments?
thanks

This doesn't actually fix the "problem" but my guess is that OE is now being more accurate in what it considers an attachment. For instance, signatures are added from many mail clients as an attachment, not as regular text in the email, and email readers just display it inline with the email.

My computer started doing this after I installed AVG. The mail it displayed was the normal email plus a little piece at the bottom saying it was scanned by AVG; the attached file was the original email without the AVG signature.

Does your computer have AVG installed?

Yes, in fact they all do. I am going to turn off the screened by avg notice insertion and see if that fixes the problem.
thanks!

Turning off the message insert by AVG fixes the problem.
Thanks again!!!
