Help!
Having a bit of a problem with Outlook Express (5.00.2314.1300),
was getting ready to backup files for transfer to a new machine, and am able to see only the past 2 days messages in the inbox (sent mesages are still there, and didn't fiddle with any OE settings.
The laptop on which this resides was running out of HD space, and last week had a couple of occassions when inbox would display older messages, but not more recent ones (which got me thinking it was time to get this data off this machine before something like this happened). Did delete some unrelated programs to free up some space, but have had no problems with IE or other Outlook Express folders.
There's about 2 years worth of messages in there, and I can still see the inbox file with explorer at C:\windows\application data\microsoft\outlook express\mail\inbox.mbx (and the file is about 70 Meg, so I know the data is in there, but I can't retrieve it)
Read some of the other posts, and had downloaded Express Assist 2000 to backup mail files, but don't want to run it yet and possibly screw things up further.
Can another computer read the inbox.mbx file? Is there something I can do to get all the inbox messages displayed before I run Express Assist? Any other ideas?
Any help is appreciated!
