Outlook Exp takes forever to load on WinXP

I recently went from Win2k to XP and now when I open OE (6) it takes a good 20-30 seconds before opening. I get the OE splash screen that entire time.

With win2k and oe6 it popped up immediately.

I'm running an AMD 1800 and 512mb PC2700 ram.

Everything else seems to be running great. Any ideas?

It's the way you disabled Windows Messenger. This is the way that I remove it, and OE6 loads just fine. I don't remember the source; I'd credit them appropriately otherwise. Usual registry hacking cautions apply, i.e., back up the keys that you plan on modifying.

Open up Registry Editor by running "regedit" command. Click on "Edit" and select "Find". Copy and paste FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541 onto the "Find what" box and click on "Find Next". Once found, click on the plus sign in front of it and you will find InProc32 and LocalServer32. Select one of them then right click on default under the name column and select "modify", then simply delete what's in the Value Data box. Repeat for the other.

I have a feeling that you disabled an important server in the name of tweaking. I did the same thing and got similar results (The splash screen wasn't visible the duration, however). I beleive the service is called Protected Storage.
