Outlook Deleted Items: Is there anything in between always and never?

Let's say I want to keep my deleted items (in case I find something later in the week I need to check, etc), but not forever (I don't want it to grow indefinitely). Is there a way to tell Outlook to just deleted these after x number of days?

I see the Archive option, and that will work, I suppose, but ideally I just want to get rid of it.

I think you can do it with retention policies, but that is something that most Administrators will set to follow company policy, so probably not a solution for you.

Not sure if this will work, as retention polices is normally part of an Exchange Mailbox, but you can try it and see:

Otherwise you can try this, using the Rules Wizard:

Make selections from “Which condition(s) do you want to check” and click Next.

On “What do you want to do with the message” window, Step 1: Select action(s), choose “apply retention policy.” Then, in bottom field, Step 2: Edit the rule…, click the blue “retention policy” link to set the length of time before purging.

Continue through Wizard until the Finish button is functional.

Hmm.. Looks like you are starting mid-way through a walkthrough. But there is no clue as to what this is a walkthrough of. You might do better to post a link to the page you got this off of. Thanks.
