Outlook 2010 Colour Categories & Follow-up Flags

In Outlook, you can mark messages with colour categories and a follow-up flag. When you change the flag to 'complete,' it clears the colour as well. Is there a way to clear the flag without clearing the colour (I use it to sort my messages). I.e. keep the function of the two items independent.
