I need help. I have Office 2007. Whenever I insert a animated gif into an e-mail using Outlook 2007 the gif loses it's animation. The person I send the e-mail to only will only see a still image. This is driving me nuts. I can't find a setting to fix this.

Never mind. I found the answer myself.

The animated graphic in my e-mail message doesn't work
Symptoms
When you receive an e-mail message that contains animated graphics, such as animated .gif files, only a static image appears.

Cause
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 does not display animated graphics files in the body of e-mail messages. Only the first frame of the animation appears.

Resolution
You can view the message in your Web browser to see the animation.

View an e-mail message in your Web browser
Open the message.
On the Message tab, in the Actions group, click Other Actions.
Click View in Browser

I have Office 2007 and Outlook. I found out the same thing you did - I use animations everyday in my email. The solution was easy - I use Outlook Express or the new Windows Mail, and restrict Outlook to the bare essentials. I find it more of an annoyance than useful.

The new WinMail in Vista does animations and background sound nicely.

I think that solutions sucks. I want to be able to view the animations without going through any steps to view my mail in a web browser. If I was satisfied with that I would just check my mail online. I want to use Outlook 2007. I'm tempted to go back to the previous version which is a shame since I paid a lot of money for Office 2007. In my opinion there should be a setting that allows me to view animations inside Outlook 2007.

Who said anything about viewing mail in a web browser? I use email programs for that. All my incoling mail is handled by Eudora Pro - has much better mail handling capabilities than Outlook, Outlook Express, or WinMail. Thunderbird ain't bad either.

I got Office 2007 Pro, and Outlook came in the package - and basically it sucks. I'm about to uninstall it.
