Outlook 2003/WinXP/Setihide

When I am running setihide and outlook 2003 at the same time, I get to a point where outlook wont work. I then have to close seti. Any idea's?

I did some poking around and saw this has to do with folder sync in earlier versions, but this machine is a home pc that uses pop3. Now my work machine uses outlook 2003, echange, offline folders, setihide and there are no problems there.

Thanks.

Justout of curiosity...how much ram do you have on the home pc and how much on the work pc?

Only reason I ask, is that ram makes a big difference and will cause some apps to not work , while others still work fine. especially if you are running near your ram limits.

Work is 512, home is 2gigs.

I had this problem before and stopped running seti on this machine for a while, but then came back and all worked fine for months. I then rebuilt my pc using a different board and cpu. Now I am having problems again.

maybe that was too vague a hint...

When mine did that it turned out to be an Nvidia driver causing it. After installing a different driver the problem went away.

Nvidia, graphics..no but it is an nForce3 board so there are nvidia drivers involved. I am very hesitant to update the drivers since the latest ones crashed my system when I was installing. Maybe I will ghost it tonight and try though. Things seem to be working ok at the moment, but I havent used outlook much today. I keep outlook running because I have numerous accounts that I check frequently through the day and my wife uses the calendar and contacts a lot as well. Hopefully it will work itself out.

Back when I used Outlook, I used to have slowdown problems with the older verson of SETIDriver I was using, even when priority was set to "Low". I remember the newer version which allowed "Force IDLE only" took care of the problem.

I know you're using SH, but maybe its worth trying SETIDriver with that option enabled to see if that helps 🙂
