Outlook 2003 Sucking Up Memory?

I have a Dell GX280 at work with 512MB of DDR2. I think since it's shared with the graphics card, it only has 504MB available for actual usage. However, when I have a few windows open including Outlook 2003 (a few meaning at least 5-6 Excel/Word docs out and a couple of network based programs for databases) I can't access the mapped network drives because of "Insufficient Resources". The problem is when I open up the Task Manager, it shows that I have only used up about half my memory and have ~250,00kb of memory left. So I don't get it, if I close Outlook 2k3, which only uses around 7000kb worth of RAM, it allows me on the drive. And I would think that 512MB worth of RAM is plenty for office use. Am I wrong?
