Outlook 2003: searching emails returns oldest first

i know how to sort the list, but often times i'm searching from an email from a week ago and it returns emails from 2001 first...

thanks for any help you can provide...

yeah i know, i just turned archiving on and it keeps only the last 6 months of email --- speeds things up a bit. Adds another tree of folders for your archived stuff below your personal folders, so you can search those seperately.
