Outlook 2003 rules and contacts

I saved the PST to another drive, reloaded windows from scratch then installed Outlook. I stopped the setup of outlook prematurely, cause I just wanted to find out where the PST would be located. I moved it to that location.

I opened the rules, tried to edit the contact and it states "The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened, it may have been moved or deleted . . . .

What does this mean really? The werid thing is I if I make a new rule, with a new email, and go to edit it, I get the same error message.

I just now realize that a lot of my contacts are missing email addresses, but not all. How can this be if I copied over the PST file?

I also used the backup feature for outlook, but did not use that data to restore the new outlook. Would that work better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
