Outlook 2003 not getting mail, no errors

I installed Office 2003 on a computer, as I have done a zillion times. I setup outlook to get pop3 mail. When I click send/receive - it says sending - complete, receiving - complete, but it does not actually get any of the mail. I tried with outlook express and it works as expected, when I send a test message to the account and then click send/receive, it gets the mail.

I saw online to move mapi32.dll and let it get recreated. That didn't help. I also deleted the profile through control panel -> mail and then opened outlook, created a new profile and added the account again, but still no mail and no error.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Dave

Usually pushing the send/receive button will present an error for a wrong password if that is the case. Also look at the login name to make sure XXXX is not XXXX@XXX.com or vice versa depending on who you get your email through. The fact that Outlook Express works kinda negates my suggestions though...I've never see that before in all the years of supporting Outlook 2k3.

Mide - I definitely have all the info correct - I've set this account up literally hundreds of times! I'll report back if I ever get to the bottom of this...

When you accessed via Outlook Express were you accessing the SAME email account? If yes, did you configure the POP settings to "Leave a Copy of Messages on Server"?

If you did not, and accessed the account with a POP connection with outlook express, the mail is getting pulled to there and when you try in outlook, it sees only an "empty" Inbox.

Bah - it was a problem on the server side - the admins had the account forwarding to another account and not keeping a copy.
