This PC has XP Pro on it, and runs fine. All the contacts in Outlook are in the 'contacts' folder. The goal is, to put them into an address book (.wab file) so that they are able to be backed up.
Windows won't let the Outlook Address book open to add names. It comes back w/an error saying that the association with the contacts folder is not valid. When you go past that error, it brings up a blank address book window.
How can I get the contacts (350-400 of 'em) into a valid address book file? I tried copy and pasting them into an address book in outlook express but that wouldn't work. Tried copy and pasting them into a Word document but that just made Word hang for about an hour and there was no way of telling what it was doing...so I shut it down.
Suggestions? Backing these contacts up is the goal. I tried dragging and dropping the contact folder onto the root of C: (with right mouse button and telling it to 'copy here.') But that only created a shortcut to the folder on the hard drive root...it did not copy any contents from the folder.
What next?
