Outlook 2002 - blocked attachments?

rockhard

Golden Member
Ive been sent a few files from a motherboard supplier as attachments but because theyre .exe in nature Outlook 2002 has discarded them 🙁
Is there a way i can get hold of a copy of these off of my ISP mail server or am i out of luck?

Does my isp keep a copy of my inbound emails for any period of time that i can access some way?

Any help/advice be much apreciated,

rockhard =)

Edit your registry as detailed in this Knowledge Base article.

If you have your Outlook set to not delete mail from the server immediately after receiving it (and the default setting is to delete immediately), you may be able to get it back, otherwise, ask your motherboard supplier to resend the attachments.

thanx Ladi

Wish i could find the answers to my probs on MS KB articles like that, quickly 🙁
much appreciated.

something that may be of interest to you -

i managed to get at the attachments by importing the whole Inbox folder into OE from Outlook. I was really surprised to see the attachments reinstated as MS kided me into thinking that they would be banished from my HD to prevent viruses - hmmm? i can smell someone working on a virus to get round this 🙁

Does this mean that Outlook 2002 isnt as secure in regard to viruses as they make it out to be?
