Outlook 2000/XP export/import Q...

Say you're going to move all your Outlook data (e-mail, contacts, the works) onto a new computer. Obviously, you will use the Import/Export wizard built into Outlook.

So, what happens if you have AutoArchive on and some of your messages are stored in the "archive"? Do you have to manually connect to the archive file and export that as well (blech)? Or is Outlook "smart" enough to also include the archive in an export?

TIA,

I don't actually export my Outlook data. I just copy the .pst file to my archive disk and import from that .pst when I do a reinstall.

Same here. You just need the .pst file. If you have archived stuff, you'll have another .pst somewhere with that info in it. You'll need both.

Thanks for the ideas all. I'm actually asking because I'm writing a guide to help non-computer people move their e-mail to a new computer.

Thanks a bunch!
