Is there a way to recover a message that was sent to the trash and then deleted in the trash. Essentially, the message is not there, but I believe it still is in the PST file, but you can't access it through regular means. Anyway around this so that I can retrieve the message?

Even though you must compact the .pst file after deleting items to recover space I know of no way to retrieve an e-mail that's been deleted from the Deleted Items folder. To the best of my knowledge once you delete the item from there it's gone. Compacting the .pst file just, for the lack of a better term, defragments the .pst file. I may be wrong, however, because I'm used to an Exchange environment and when we used .pst files this situation never was an issue.

I think you can only recover deleted items that have been emptied from the Deleted Items folder on the Corp setting (Exchange server connection) and not on the Internet Email/pop/smtp setting in Outlook.

I wanted to do that same think a while back...now I just never empty my deleted items folder. I just export it once a year to another PST file and start over
