Outlook 2000 address book

I just reloaded my Outlook 2000, imported a .pst address book, and I can't use the contacts when sending e-mail. I go to properties for contacts, and the Outlook Address Book tab, and the "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" check box is grayed out. I can't check it. Can anyone help?
