Outlet switches?

Wasn't sure where to post this...

Everyone knows how in certain houses you have outlets that corrsepond to a switch in the house. You usually use the outlets for the main lamp in the room. Does anyone know if anytype of plug that can plug into an outlet and act as a switch as well?

I'm pretty much talking about a power strip with just one outlet. I'm needing one that will make turning things on/off a lot easier.

They sell switches like that...Just go to lowes or hd and see what they have in the electrical section. They have voice activated switches and everything.....about $20 though.
Link to Lamp Commander I paid $19.99 for this at Lowes. It works ok....I put it in before I had an overhead light installed in my livingroom and it was handy because I could simply shout a command to it across the room including "Lampcommander Lights Dim". The only down side is that it beeps when it recognizes a command and it did this from time to time when I was watching TV in the room.... It also sometimes has trouble understanding you when there are people talking in the room or radio or tv in the background.

Edit: IF you want to add a REAL switch box....it wouldn't take that long as long as you're installing it directly above the outlet you're wanting to use. Just put the switch between the black lead on the outlet's feed....just keep in mind that you may be cutting off anything else on that circuit so you may have to make a bypass loop to make it work correctly.

I know they sell a plug that you plug into a wall and it has 1 outlet on it with a light switch style switch on the actual plg adapter. i have 1 somewhere from when I bought track lighting years ago.

The one you linked to is "out of production". And the phrase it makes you yell is horrible...

Anyways I don't think I want any voice activated switches, just a switch/corded switch or maybe even some kind of wireless switch if they make those these days. Just having trouble finding them online.
