Art looks nice, "gameplay" looks pretty bad. Probably an immersive RPG with some FPS elements.

"Fallout Meets Open-World Bioshock" looks interesting but I'm long done with pre-orders and will wait for reviews ("We Happy Few" was marketed with a 'strong Bioshock vibe' too...) :confused2:

Obsidian has some serious bonafides and I have yet to encounter a game from them that I did not enjoy. I would be amazed if this is a bad or even average game.

I really hope this MS partnership really translates to Obsidian + a deep pool of QA testers and tech to really bring their stories to life (sans all the bugginess).

Its not open-world its more hub based like Prey/Bioshock. I'm not convinced yet its going to be like Bioshock/Prey in that its powers based. You have bullet time/VATS but that's the only thing mentioned thus far. Still this is from Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky the guys who made Fallout, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Arcanum and Temple of Elemental Evil. A space western sounds like it could be a lot fun. Honestly seeing an actual to goodness dialogue tree beyond Yes, Yes, Maybe, No these days is enough to get me hopeful lol.

Well, this just went from a likely day 1 purchase (with good reviews) to a $5 deep discount purchase. It won't be on Steam for the first year. I refuse to support any of Epic's anti-competitive and anti-consumer behavior.

Ouch, really more Epic semi-exclusiveness? I am tired of all these pop-up want to be the digital distribution systems. You missed the market by about 10 years. Trying to compete now is possible, but do it by making a better platform and letting the market decide who they buy the game from, not because you put it exclusively on a single platform...

Nothing is ever a day 1 purchase for me anymore, and the outer world's wasn't going to be one either, so the recent news doesn't really bother me (timed exclusives are no biggie in my world).

I have roughly 5 years worth of unplayed games (likely more, at my current rate) sitting in my library and another 5 years worth of games on my wish list on steam alone.

What bugs me about this is the announce trailers start with Steam and Windows Store, then suddenly it's Epic games. I don't think I'd be nearly as irked if the trailers just said Epic games up front but the crapshoot exclusivity announcements are irritating.

If MS can't even figure out where they're going to release games in this new foray into first party titles then I get want of whether or not they're going to muck up the whole endevour.

Microsoft is not involved with this. The Outer Worlds is published by Private Division, a subsidiary of Take Two.

I take this news as Outer Worlds got delayed by a year. Knowing how buggy Obsidian titles tend to be at launch, this is probably a good thing.

To be honest though I wouldn't be surprised if this was Take 2's decision since they are publishing. Obsidian owns the IP and now with Microsoft writing their checks there's probably little no way Take 2 will see a sequel from this. Might as well take Epic's money upfront and cut any risk out of the way. Besides it wouldn't be Obsidian if they weren't being screwed over by their publisher.

-Oh wow, news to me! I figured that since MS purchased Obsidian, TOW must be published by them.

For a moment it had me wondering about the Halo:MCC coming out for PC as a potential "up for grabs" release as well.
