Outdoor access points?

One business I work for needs much improved wireless access, and thanks to the material used in the walls a pair of outdoor access points would be needed.

Ubiquiti's outdoor AP's all are meant to be vertically mounted, for weather protection, and the position of the antennae. The only feasible way to mount AP's at this location are ceiling mounted to overhangs.

What are the options out there? Ceiling mounted is a must. And temperature range is from -30F to probably can get 150F inside the overhang in the summer. We have people who know how to mount things and run the cables, I'm just in charge of figuring out what to mount. And the information out there from google searches are not quite as in-depth as I would prefer.

Thanks

The antennas are removable so why not attach the AP itself to the ceiling and just buy some external antennas and mount those to the side for signal propagation.

The Ubiquiti dual band outdoor AP does not have removable antennae. With the high congestion during certain times of the year, anyone we can get up to the 5ghz frequency would be great!

I want to just try their indoor AP mounted outside, see if it holds up through the weather. But the employees at this business and the board of directors hate each other enough as it is, there isn't much wiggle-room for a "let's try it out" kind of plan :D

In the quickstart guide for the outdoor Ubiquiti's they show mounting them to poles. Couldn't you just get some small poles and mount them to the overhang, then mount the APs to them?

During the approval stage I will run into board members who complain it will look bad if it hangs down. I guess I'm hoping to see if someone like's an alternate brand than Ubiquiti that may be a better fit. The access point will basically be placed on the corner of a square and try to cover as much of the square as possible.

The Ruckus T300s are very small and low profile, can be mounted in almost any position, and have very good specs.

If wall mounting is not possible, I would recommend using a mount arm attached to the underside of the overhang. You might also be able to use an "L" bracket or piece of steel attached to the underside of the overhang, then just attach the wall mount kit and the antenna to the bracket.
