outdated hardware?

I was wondering if my hardware could somehow be outdated causing my boot-up time to be slow and my icons to not boot right.

Should I look into updating some of my hardware? I've only had this computer for about 2 years.

Computer parts don't become slower over time, but your OS install can get lots of cruft accumulated onto it, which will make it slow. I would recommend a fresh OS install before buying any new parts.

I've used stuff like ccleaner regualry to get some junk off of it and it still does it

I've had the problem off and on with it over the last 2 years and I don't know why.

The latest problem, my internet browser freezes and turns to a blue screen.

Is there something else I can use besides CCleaner?

This sounds more like an issue with the OS install and/or hardware although it's hard to say given the limited symptoms. Frankly I don't recommend CCleaner as I've seen it cause more problems than it typically fixes. I would recommend re-installing your OS (I'm guessing Windows 7) and going from there. Oh and format the drive before you install (making sure you back up any files you need to keep before doing so) and don't just do an install over an existing install.

Well be awhile before I can reinstall the OS since I haven't a clue how to do it and the 1 person who does is currently training other people at his work and has no time until after the holidays to look at it.

It keeps telling me it is rebooting to install updates and then it never does.

Done this about 6 times in the last 2 days and I've had the blue screen problem for about a month.

Why I was wondering if my hardware was failing or what.

Blue screens and starts flashing then when my browser reloads I have this problem

Well, the bluescreens may tell us something (or they may tell us nothing) but might as well give it a shot. Download WhoCrashed, click analyze and give us the results of the most recent crash.

^ agreed. It could be hardware related but if you don't have experience installing an OS then doing hardware troubleshooting isn't something I'd recommend doing.

As long as you have your COA (the piece of paper that has your CD key) it shouldn't be too much of an issue. You can download an ISO of whichever Windows OS you need from Microsoft you'll just need to have your CD key.

Then you have a problem. Don't recall what the rules on the forum are on this matter, I know you can grab your key from the install using various tools but I'm going to refrain from posting links at this time.

Nope, that's something different. It looks like it's been linked to in the past so I presume it's ok. Presuming that you have a legit install you can use Magical Jellybean KeyFinder to pull the key from your registry.

You'll have to burn a disk or make a bootable USB drive. We can point you where to but we need to know which version of Windows 7 you're running to point you to the correct ISO.
