Out with a concussion..

At my high school soccer game last night there was a cornerkick that I made a diving header for. Next thing I knew I was lying on the ground on the sideline surrounded by people and I have an incredible headache. Apparently as I dove for the header a defender came knee first into left-center of my forhead. Anyhow, I went to the ER and everything checked out alright luckily.

Just thought I'd share my story as it seems like a lot of people here think of soccer as some sort of pansy sport.

One time I was concussed by a lacrosse ball, apparently the ref asked if I was ok and I said yes, but I have no recollection of it at all. I do however remember the terrible headache.

Soccer's not a pansy sport, what're they talking about...and yeah, that sucks. My worst concussion was during a game of football - went to tackle someone who had too good of an angle on his run so my arms couldn't hold him as my body flew off, and the impact whipped my head into the ground. I did the usual 15 minutes of asking what time or day it was...and then drove to my g/f's after the game 😛

Back in high school in gymnastics we used to play rugby.
It was hilarious, a bunch of high school dudes (all the girls were playing tennis bar one) smashing into each others.
During one lineup me and another guy decided to throw some guy over the line of our defense, so he could catch the ball. Needless to say he was hit unconcious, and someone went to the hospital due to pain in his lower back.
Later that year someone broke his leg.
Funsies. Not like american football with armor and such.

That's kind of how this was, in regards to you having no recollection of it at all. I don't actually remember hitting the defender's knee..I'm just going off what everyone told me happened.

You're lucky you remembered what happened. Last time I headbutted a car, I blacked out for a week, and had recollection of what happened.

Last time? You've headbutted a car multiple times? 😕.

The worst sports accident I've had was when I was playing tennis, someone hit a ball hard enough to fly into my eye while it was open...

Was shaken up pretttyyyy bad... Couldn't play for an hour or two...

Out with a concussion...but yet you can still post while unconscious? :Q Now THAT is some uber l33t posting skillz!

Took one for the team, congrats...glad ur ok too, must've hurt

those who think it's a pansy sport have never truly played

I got one skiing. Blazing through a slalom (w/e word it is) as fast as I could, caught an ice rut w/ one of my skis. I flipped around backwards (so I was going down the hill rightside up, backwards) and the back of my skis caught another ice rut and I went overbackwards, landing on my neck. I have no clue how long I was out, only that I had a massive headache and was tired.

The first time I was knocked out it was because some dolt kicked the soccer ball into my head... I woke up on the ground, but had no concussion.

Another time some kid apperantly thought I was a ghost and attempted to kick the ball through my leg. It aimed to impact with my knee, which then seemed to dedcid it best to evade the impending risk by hyper-extend itself. Oh the pain.

Hope you are feeling better soon. I got concussed when playing football in the park, looking back over my shoulder for the pass and ran smack into a tree that maked the goal line. Next thing I knew I was lying flat on the ground with players from both teams surrounding me with concerned looks. I was told I was out for about 2-3 minutes. The headaches lasted for two weeks.
