Hi everyone,

My g/f is looking at these three cars:

Mercedes Benz C240
BMW 325i
Lexus is300

We'would get all the options for it.

Which car is the best, and why? Of course, price is an issue here, but so are features, saftey, power, etc.

Any relevant links would greatly help.

Thank you very much!!

**UPDATE**
Much to your guys' badgering, I checked out the G35. It is cool w/me. I forwarded some pix of the car to my g/f, and she thinks it's awesome. :)

So we are going to go check it out this afternoon. :)

I am a G35 newbie -- any cool features I should be aware of?

**UPDATE #2**

We are probably going to get the BMW. She has been wanting to get one since high school. Now I need to find a good deal on one! how do i go about doing that?

seriously?

how could any of those be a "bad" car?!?!? :Q

i'll sell her my 1990 Mazda Protege for $750, only 165K miles and starts every time. A/C is broke, but sweating is good for the glands

I don't know about you, but for the most bang for your bucks and performance + luxury I think an IS300 is the way to go. Fully loaded with Nav, LSD, the works for 31.5k

I really do like the looks of the Mercedes Benz C240 6 speed or 4 matic but that's starting price is like 36k

BMW 323i starts at about the same price as the IS300 but unless you're going for the 330ci or equivalent, I don't think they're worth getting. Not much bang for the bucks.

If you want to talk about "bang for the bucks" just say G35.

BWM doesn't make 323 anymore, so not sure if you are considering used as well.

G35 is nice. Probably IS300 out of that group, but if you are talking a 325 or a 330 I start to lean.

We are not looking at the G35 -- that is why it's not up there.

What about maintenance costs? Is there any car which is cheaper for mainetenance?

I'm not sure if Mercedes throws in free maintainance but Bimmers come with it for like 3 years or something I believe.

Lexus gives you depending on the dealership usually 2. I think Longo Lexus in Texas gives like 4.
There really isn't much maintainance needed on the IS300. I'm not too sure on the Bimmers and the Benz

lexus is the cheapest for maintenance cost......uses toyota parts..i personally don't like how the IS looks however...it looks a bit ricy for my tastes....but don't get me wrong, it is a nice nice car....the benz is not worth getting..any c-class is not worth it cuz you can get much better w/ the same price....

Why is it ricey ? cuz of the Altezza lights ? The Altezza lights originated on the cars and APC and Mitsubishi put em on their cars... including the Nissans.

Definitely another vote for the IS out of the choices... mo powa & performance than 323i. A C-class MB should NEVER be considered... it is a POS. It's not even worthy to be called a Benz. It's like if MB slapped their badge on a shoddily assembled Tercel.

And yesh, G35 MUST be considered for that class. Same with the Audi A4 if you wanted AWD. The WRX STi and Lancer Evo are both in that price class but definitely not same kind of car. Prolly not for the gf... something more for you, heh.

everytime I see an is300 on the road, I always think the driver is a rice boy... :D

BMW now gives 4 year/50k miles on all of their new cars, u dont have to pay anything (except for gas and insurance) for the first 4/50k...

they dont make the 323 anymore, instead they have 325.. actually the same engine size, but a little bit modification (exhaust, engine management, etc)

among those 3, MB is surely the most prestigous... BMW is more sporty with also some dash of luxury... the is is simply pure sport IMO, the luxury factor is very small...

I chose the 3 series among those 3...

323i. The 3 is more youthful than the MBZ, and the 3 is more mature than the IS. Do you want to look like a boy racer or an octogenarian? :)

That's true, I still haven't seen even spy pics of the New Altezza yet. :( It's suppose to get a beefier engine as well, but I kinda like the engine I have now.

Are you buying used?? The 323's are now 325's for BMW I think. Also the usually costs about $600 for every 35,000 miles and another $800 or so for every 60,000 miles. That is for the major tune ups which would be covered and paid for by BMW if it is under warranty. I think they pay for the first tune up and service up to 36,000 miles.

Are you going to pay for the car? I don't think so. These three cars are the ones that we are looking at.

However, I will keep an open mind - please educate me on why the G35 is the best. Thanks. :)
