Out of the loop...what to use for fan control for 9800GT?

I used to be up on the latest & greatest in GPU control, but haven't paid much attention the last few years.

Is Rivatuner still the way to go?

I always found it a PITA to configure fan profiles in there, but last i know, it was pretty much the only way to do it decently.

I got a cheap deal from someone on a Palit 9800GT for my secondary use system for basic game usage, but the fan defaults sadly are far too loud & annoying for my liking, even @ idle.

Just want to be able to lower it a bit @ idle & have it not ramp fan speed up quite so high until it's actually needing to.

I think Afterburner works too.

This appears to be the easiest & also still very advanced 🙂

I just installed it.

Sadly it looks like i might have to go the aftermarket cooler route, as both Rivatuner & Afterburner refuse to set the fan speed below 55%, which = far too loud idle noise.

Is this a BIOS thing Palit has set, or could it be modified in the drivers somehow?

The card does not need to be idling at incredibly low temps, but no app is letting me reduce fan speed below 55% 🙁
