Totally out of the loop on laptops but I'm thinking of getting either a Surface book 3 or an XPS 2 in 1.
Thinking about the 13inch (or equivalent)
Any glaring reasons why one is better than the other or other recommendations?
Probably not going to get one until I can go play with one in a shop so that might be a while unless PC shops get designated as essential!

They all seem to have similar hardware so it's the screen, keyboard and case that's going to differentiate them and I need to play with them for that.
Still at least the lockdown is forcing me to make a reasoned decision!

Ok. So it looks like the Thunderbolt port is hideously insecure so that's made the decision a bit easier!

Right. While I know that I should wait until stores open to try these out I'm kinda coming to a decision.

I'm thinking of the xps 13 with the i7-1065G7 and 16gb of ram with a HD screen. The 4k screen is £200ish more and I'm not sure of the advantage on a 13" screen.

I get that the TB3 and intel processors are both horrible from a security pov but this isnt going to be a massive issue with my usage.

I'm liking the Dells aspect ratio. It's a nice compromise between the Surface books 3:2 work centric aspect and a 16:9 media centric one.

I'm mainly going to be using this for general entertainment. Coming home from work in the morning and sorting out bill's and stuff then watching Netflix in bed or talking crap on the internet. I guess that an i7 is a bit of overkill but it's nice to know that it will not be struggling with stuff in a year or so.

So help me spend my money!

Ended up getting a slightly used (but in immaculate condition) XPS 13 2in1 UHD model and its freaking awesome!
The screen is a thing of beauty and folding the screen back makes it great for Netflix in bed.
It ran a bit hot out of the box but tweaking the power options has sorted that.
