Out of space, new hard drive opinions (not brand) based on my current setup

Ok.. I have a 7200 13.6 gig Maxtor.. It's got my 98/2k OS's on it, a few games, etc. I'm pretty happy with the setup.

5400 20 gig WD. It's basically got more games that don't access the HDD much, all my mp3s and divx stuff.. but of course that's chewing up space fast.

I'm leaning towards getting a decent WD/Maxtor 5400, maybe a 30 gig or 40 if I can find one cheap enough. The 5400 speed hasn't been a real issue right now, so I don't care about it for the next one.

Do you think since I like my 13 gig the way it is, and it's fast, just keep it? I'm trying to stay around the $130 range so if I can just keep the little 13 guy, sell off the 20 gig and get a 40, it may work out fine.

Any opinions?

I'm assuming that you maxed out on your IDE channel? and can only have 2 HDs? If I were you, I'll keep the Maxtor 7200rpm for the applications and/or games, and have a big 5400rpm drive for storage.

or you can backup all the non-essential data to CDR, and reclaim the diskspace..

Well I myself just bought a new WD 30 gig 5400 (single platter)
last week. It cost $99.99 retail and I'm going to install it
this weekend. It's supposed to be super quiet and super cool.

If you are out of eide channels, save up and get a bigger drive. If you have a little bit more to spend get a promise ata/100 controller card and keep your existing drive while just adding a new one to your system.
