argh. so the computer gets booted up this morning, loads windows, and then before it gets to the log on screen, i get the "out of range" error on my monitor.

i didn't fuxor around with the settings last night, so i have no idea what happened to it. last time this happened was when i switched monitors from a regular old one to the LCD and the refresh rate was too high.

right now i'm booting from safe mode, but i can't change the monitor settings!

or is there anything else i can do?

:( help me please.

outlook express, then tools, then down to options, then click on the security tab. Check the line that says "do not allow attchments or e-mails to be opened that may contain a virus" (or something like that) I cleaned out all my e-mail files for all accounts, then i virus scanned, cleaned files, dumped temp internet files, cookies and finally defragged. Maybe your system is clogged, I think mine was. Keep in mind, I am a novice. A real novice.

Boot in VGA mode and go through the motions of setting the monitor to 640 x 480 x 16 colors @ 60Hz, then reboot afterwards. This will cause it to come up at that setting on the next normal boot, and then you can change it back to an optimal setting.
