"Out of Memory Error" trying to start Scandisk? Huh? I have 512mb!

I have Norton SystemWorks Pro, that I use for all my AV/registry cleanup/defragging duties. Normally, I'd do a scandisk out of there.

But last night, while in Windows explorer, I right-clicked both my single HD and my RAID array (one at a time, obviously!) hit properties. There are three tabs; one has the basic drive info, second is "Tools" (the ones that come with Windoze, third is Norton and you can can the most of the Norton tools out of there.

Well, I clicked on "Tools" dunno why, just did and tried to run a Scandisk. I got a "Not enough memory to run Scandisk, close other apps and try again" error. There was nothing else open.

What's up w/this? Is this related to Norton? It's not a biggie; I could live w/it. It's just knowing that "something" on my rig does not work properly irks me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

ive heard of this problem before and someone explained it, try doing a search on google.com i know its not too uncommen of a problem

Use the three finger salute(control-alt-delete keys), then close all programs, then run scandisk. If that doesn't work, start in safe mode and run it there.

Sounds like you have a FAT32 volume with too small of a cluster size.

I checked out that MS page...bummer. I just did that conservativeswapfileusage=1 tweak a couple of weeks ago...now I run into another prob. Bummer.

Bacillus, you run W2K, right? RU a big gamer? Much diff B/T 98 and 2K?

Saw this KB article on ScanDisk, not sure if this applies to the Win98 version also:
