Our phone lines are dead, but my DSL is working...

any idea as to why?

Our power went out for about 5 hours, when it came back up the phones were dead, but dsl connected right up.

Indeed. The line goes through a POTS splitter which then routes the POTS signal & DSL signals to different locations.

If the physical line is intact it's entirely possible for one to work but not the other.

So the phone could be knocked out, while DSL is fine?

I was thinking maybe something might be up with the filters, but taking them off didnt help anything. I get no signal at all on my phone.

Suppose I have to wait till tomorrow either way.

yup, else you wouldn't be able to use your phone while on dsl😛 like when using 56k modem.. ick!
